Student Animated Homage to Hayao Miyazaki

[REBLOG]
I was thoroughly impressed with this anime-inspired short film, not just because it references almost every Miyazaki movie ever made, but also because of how unbelievably detailed it is for a student film project. The attention to detail and fluidity is staggering. The backgrounds and beautifully rendered with plenty of after-effects magic going on with the color and lighting enhancement. And although the character animation might be the weakest point of the short with regards to movement and facial expressions, the animation on the non-human creatures is just about the best you could hope for.

If Studio Ghibli feels that it must close its doors soon, I think we can all rest easy knowing that not only will the animators and creators who have worked at Ghibli will go on to create their own films elsewhere, but that the spirit of Ghibli will live on in the hearts and minds of many other budding animators and filmmakers around the world.
